Welcome to the “King” of Finnish waxes. So you might be thinking to yourself, “How can that be? I’ve never heard of Rex and the local ski shop doesn’t carry it.” If that's the case, then most likely you are from the Western U.S. or areas where alpine is the sport of choice and where the local shop carries one brand to cover both sports. Rex has always had a rich and strong history in the Midwest with ties to Scandinavian heritage.
New this year is a change in distribution in the U.S. with a mission to grow and expand Rex to equal it’s presence in Europe. Rex, for the past 60 years, has a been a leader and innovator in the development of Nordic ski waxes. For those of you who know Rex, you have to look no further than Rex “Blue”, the standard to which all glide waxes are measured. The Rex Klister line has always been a top performer, as has TK-72, “The Golden Block”, the most widely recognized and copied flouro block in the world. And no wax kit is complete without Hydrex and Rex’s line of liquid and powder top coatings.
So what sets Rex aside from the other brands? First and fore-most simplicity.
- Rex’s physiology is to keep it simple.
- Create waxes that cover as wide as range as possible. Course conditions rarely remain the same from start to finish and you do not need your wax to fail in the middle of the course.
- Keep proven waxes, and change/modify a formula or category only after extensive testing. Rex Blue is a great example of “staying the course”.
- Support each wax with simple “how to” instructions and videos.
The World Cup teams know Rex Ski Wax. Silvano Barco heads up Rex’s World Cup Service. He can be found on both the Nordic and Biathlon Circuits. Rex sponsors many of the World Teams both Nordic and Biathlon and also is the proud sponsor of Dorothea Wierer. Beyond that, may countries in Europe have their own “Rexperts”, and in the U.S., we will have them as well.
Our mission is to publish timely articles thought out the ski season. If you are looking for help, advise, or a retailer you can check the Rex website or drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Until next time, think snow!
